BB&T now Truist Economic Growth Fund Supports Local Colleges

An extraordinary investment

The BB&T now Truist Economic Growth Fund at the Lancaster County Community Foundation has provided nearly $850,000 to support seven higher education institutions committed to supporting career placement opportunities for Lancaster youth.

These grants follow more than $9.1million in local investments the BB&T now Truist Economic Growth Fund has made since the fund’s inception in 2015. Economic growth fund grants are designed to bolster efforts across the community that strengthen Lancaster County’s economic growth ecosystem.

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, one of the latest beneficiaries, will receive a $110,000 grant to create Pathways to Success, a program to connect local students with a technical education so they may pursue a career in the construction industry and in other high-demand fields. As of February 2021, there were more than 120 job openings in Lancaster County for carpenters, electricians and plumbers. Building the supply of trained workers for these industries will improve individual livelihoods and support Lancaster County’s prosperity.

“At Truist our purpose is to inspire and build better lives and communities,” said Alex Brame, Truist Central Pennsylvania regional president. “These investments are part of ongoing efforts of The BB&T now Truist Economic Growth Fund at the Lancaster County Community Foundation to support initiatives and projects that foster in-demand thriving wage jobs and our higher education partners in Lancaster County.”
