Speaking Up

Sharing your voice—and helping others share theirs—is a passion that turned into a career for Luis.

As a Baldwin Fellow with the Community Foundation, Luis used his fellowship to enrich his role as an emerging Latino leader, undergoing an intensive leadership course to expand his capacity to manage his organization, as well as more effectively advocate for his community. As Executive Director for The Mix At Arbor Place, Luis has worked with the Community Foundation to implement innovative programs that help Lancaster’s youth speak up, such as the We Rock The Mic program that teaches students to write and perform their own poetry.

Whether it’s on the stage, in the boardroom, or putting up free little libraries on the corner, Luis has worked to find his voice in this community, and is helping the next generation to find theirs.
