Community Foundation Activates More Than $1 Million to Celebrate its 100th Anniversary

One Year to Change the Next 100

In 2024, to celebrate its 100th year, the Lancaster County Community Foundation activated a total of $1,146,000 from the community’s endowment to support local organizations, students, and communities.

Through once-in-a-century grant awards, special scholarships, partnerships with regional business chambers, and engaging public events, the Community Foundation invited residents to imagine ideas that would unleash opportunities to create a more vibrant, resilient, and inclusive shared future.

“The Community Foundation knows that Lancaster County is full of changemakers who care deeply about the future of our shared community. It is inspiring to learn about and support so many bold new projects,” said CEO Sam Bressi.

Throughout the year, the Community Foundation invested more than $1 million in four future-focused categories, including: Creative Expression, Well-Being & Vibrancy, Next Generation, and Our Planet. Explore each award program and its recipients:

 

Creative Expression

Scholarships

The Community Foundation catalyzed the future of promising scholars who will move Lancaster County forward for the next 100 years with special scholarships. Eight scholarships, each worth $2,500, were awarded to students pursuing an education in the four Shaping Tomorrow future-focused areas.

 

Community Boost Awards

The Community Foundation offered local chambers of commerce and business organizations an opportunity to boost their forward-focused initiatives. These unique Boost Awards of up to $5,000 each were designed to spark future shaping strategies and projects in local communities throughout the county.
