Chip & Rebecca Cargas

We like the idea of being part of a whole county of people thinking about our future. Our work is one piece in a bigger picture.

We came of age in the 60s,” Chip reflects, “and since then, we’ve always been looking out for people who need help.” The couple remembers the time when their fledgling company was just starting; working off plywood desks in a bedroom and raising four children, to leading the thriving employee-owned Cargas Systems. Today, Chip and Rebecca share an approach that honors and empowers individuals. “I like to give to places where I know there is a direct need,” Rebecca explains. They have focused their giving on specific points where they can support people on their journey to self-sufficiency and prosperity. “Some people need education, some need great childcare, some need inspiration.” Chip says. “We like working with the Community Foundation because it allows us the flexibility to be able to guide our donations in the way we want.”

Beyond their personal commitment, they have also launched a corporate fund for their business. “Through Cargas Systems, we have more people and more ideas of how we can make an impact.” Chip explains. Now, Forever Lancaster “helps us do what we’ve always done…but adds sustainability,” Chip declares. “We like the idea of being part of a whole county of people thinking about our future. Our work is one piece in a bigger picture.”
