Joe Hess

Joe Hess is a Senior Vice President and Financial Consultant at Hazlett, Burt, & Watson in downtown Lancaster. He joined the firm in 2025 after 15 years at Vanguard where he worked with endowments and foundations across the country, providing investment counseling and advice on topics ranging from policy design and portfolio construction to capital market research and performance evaluation. In his current role, Joe’s provides fiduciary-focused investment consulting and financial planning for individual investors, many of whom are members of the local community.

Joe earned his BBA in finance and risk management from Temple University and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CFA® charterholder, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia. He also holds a Certificate in Performance Measurement (CIPM) and FINRA 6, 7, 24, and 63 licenses.

An 11th generation Lancastrian, Joe and his wife, Angela, live in East Lampeter with their daughters Cameron and Elliott, and son Will. Another son is expected in April 2025.
