John H. Gehr Fund

In August 2002, Mr. John Gehr retired from Frontier Communications of Pennsylvania with more than 40 years’ experience within the telecommunications industry. To honor Mr. Gehr’s outstanding service, demonstrated leadership and impeccable character, several of his coworkers came together to establish the John H. Gehr Scholarship Fund.

The John H. Gehr Scholarship honors students who, throughout their academic career, exemplified: academic excellence, a commitment to serving others through volunteerism, a strong work ethic, solid leadership and communication skills as well as demonstrated integrity and high moral standards of conduct.  All these traits embody the personal and professional character of John Gehr. 

$250 Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, intended college major (specified as telecommunications, business, information technology, and engineering), essay, work ethic, leadership, communication skills, and activities. Students interested in applying for the John H. Gehr Scholarship can receive additional information and submit their completed applications to the Garden Spot High School Guidance office.
