Funds can be established with the commitment to reach a minimum contribution level within five years. Although this minimum amount is required prior to initial spending and grant-making, contributions begin earning investment returns upon their receipt. A fund can receive tax-deductible contributions from both you and others who share your charitable vision.
Community Impact Fund ($10,000 contribution minimum): Established by donors to ensure that resources will be available for strategic initiatives that Create Extraordinary Community and make a lasting impact in Lancaster County. The Community Foundation has maximum flexibility to apply the fund’s spending to the most relevant and promising opportunities for generations to come.
Donor Advised Fund ($15,000 contribution minimum within five years): Offers the greatest flexibility by allowing one or two donors to recommend grants to any qualified nonprofit organization or charitable project. Successor advisors can be appointed for at least one generation (additional generations allowed if new contributions are received). Fund can be Permanent (endowed) or Nonpermanent (balance can be spent down and replenished at any time).
Organization Advised Fund ($15,000 contribution minimum): Enables a company or organization to contribute funds and recommend grants to any qualified nonprofit organization or charitable project. Fund can be Permanent (endowed) or Nonpermanent (balance can be spent down and replenished at any time).
Designated Fund ($15,000 contribution minimum): Provides ongoing, permanent support to one or more nonprofit organizations of the donor’s choosing. If a nonprofit beneficiary should cease to function, the Foundation can redirect income to achieve the donor’s original charitable purpose.
Field of Interest Fund ($15,000 contribution minimum): Established by a donor to support a broad area of charitable interest, such as the environment, arts and culture, education, or a specific geographic area. The Foundation awards grants to charitable programs within the field of interest, and retains the flexibility to respond to changing opportunities within that field.
Scholarship Fund ($15,000 contribution minimum): May be established to benefit students at any educational level. The Foundation can select recipients and manage the entire application and award process, or donors can appoint a committee to select scholarship awardees according to pre-approved and objective criteria. Scholarship winners are automatically eligible to receive matching funds from PHEAA’s PATH Program according to their remaining financial need.
Organizational Endowment Fund/Agency Fund ($10,000 contribution minimum): Nonprofit organizations can transfer assets to the Foundation to create a permanent endowment fund (click here for more information). The fund also can accept gifts from other donors. Earnings provide an ongoing source of unrestricted income to the charitable organization.
